On Friday 26th November 2021, The Irede Foundation launched a comic book starring children with disabilities, the first of its kind in Africa, The Iredians.

The goal of the Iredians, being a part of the foundation’s awareness and advocacy campaign for the representation of children with disabilities in society and art, is to drive the message of inclusion and raise awareness among children in schools about children living with disabilities.

Hopeful that this will be a start of more inclusivity for children with disabilities, and they begin to see themselves in animation features to understand that they are able to live independent and limitless lives regardless of their disabilities. Hence, our goal is to have distributed 10,000 copies of IREDIANS (volume 01) to children across Nigeria by December 2021.

Every comic book in the hands of a child contributes to the independence of a child living with a disability and the advancement of an inclusive society in which all voices are heard and considered.
